A couple of facts about my neighborhood
-Mayor Thomas Menino used to live in Hyde Park
-It has nice structures like the Vertullo building, which is the oldest and surviving wooden building
-Doesn’t have a lot of fine dining but it’s filled with fast food and even international food
-It used to be home to the 54th Regiment(The first African-American Army who
fought in the civil war)

Hello my fellow readers, my name is Karla,
and I will be introducing you to my neighborhood.
Hyde Park aka “Small town in a City” is an urban city
with suburban characteristics to it.
It’s filled with different nationalities, food,
even has great history to bring it all together.
Hyde Park used to be the home for the 54th Regiment,
who were the first African Americans to fight in the Civil War
for the blacks in slavery. They had traveled to Boston to be free,
to then volunteer to be in a Civil War to fight for other slaves still in captivity.
