Being A Slave In Your Own Home
Imagine owning your own house in 1765? Then a whole bunch of soldiers just roam by on your street. Then later to just walk right through the front of YOUR door & CLAIM YOUR HOME! They're not welcomed at all. You're just very confused and unaware. But, then, they tell you that you must act as a slave to them in your home. You clean up after them, (anything that they messed up in your house you have to clean), wash their clothes, feed them (the food you brought in your house and paid for they are eating), etc. Take care of them like it's your own child. You're responsible for these soldiers (strangers)! But, you also don't even get reimbursed for the time and money spent to take care of strangers you don't even know! Well that was the act/law that was passed in 1765 . This act was known as the Quartering Act, which allowed the British soldiers to take over the colonist's homes. This caused conflict between the British and the colonists.
